THE QUICK VERSION: Bashou is a programmer and field agent for Team Rocket. He and his fieldwork partner, Buson, are known for their capture of Rayquaza, and a failed mission to capture Raikou. Bashou spends most of his time working at home; he is reclusive and keeps himself at a distance from most people, including other Rockets.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: Bullying, vio.lence, inj.ury, se.xual as.saultThe man currently known as “Bashou” was once Shiro, the second youngest of five siblings. He grew up on a farm in the Johto countryside. From an early age, he was a very gifted student, and a talented pianist. He was known locally as an upcoming shogi player, and a regular prize-winner in local math and music competitions.Shiro's schedule didn't give him many opportunities to make friends. He was also bullied for his delicate appearance. This went on for a number of years until, one day, he lost his temper and attacked one of his bullies with a wooden kendo sword, resulting in a brief suspension from school, and a psychiatry referral. He was diagnosed with school-related stress.After finishing high school, Shiro went to university. He had some traumatic experiences in his first semester, including two instances of se.xual as.sault which have had a lasting impact on him.Despite gaining two college degrees and being good at his work, Shiro had trouble holding down jobs, mostly due to (undiagnosed) mental health struggles. He applied to do a PhD, but was rejected because his proposal was deemed unethical.While looking for unique freelance work as a programmer, Shiro did some remote work for a Rocket subsidiary, without realising who he was really working for. Due to the quality of his work, he was headhunted by a Rocket recruiter. Although he was initially resistant, he was eventually persuaded to join.Shiro adopted the name "Bashou" when he joined Rocket. While working as a software engineer, he trained hard so that he could also work in the field. Although he struggled, he eventually passed and was paired with a more experienced agent who could make up for his weaknesses, and vice versa.

BUSON / ブソン

THE QUICK VERSION: Buson is a field agent for Team Rocket. He and his fieldwork partner, Bashou, are known for their capture of Rayquaza, and a failed mission to capture Raikou. Buson also works in Rocket's "prison". He likes to spend his spare time in the gym or at the beach. He's generally friendly towards most people, except for Rocket's enemies and traitors.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: Parent de.ath, sui.cide, vio.lence, sub.stance ab.useBefore he became Buson, he was Danilo, the unintended result of a holiday romance between a Unovan reserve soldier, and a teacher-in-training from a Sinnohese background.Danilo spent the first years of his life living with his mother in Sinnoh's "Battle Zone". His father was still a big influence in his life. Danilo looked up to him, and dreamed of becoming a soldier like him.When he was 6, the time finally came for him and his mother to move to Unova, to live with his father. Those years in Nimbasa City were the happiest and most formative of his life. He wasn't the best student, but he was popular, and played in his school's hockey, football, and wrestling teams.Unfortunately, tragedy struck when Danilo was 13: his father, who had been unwell for a while, took his own life. What followed was a period of financial and legal struggles, and Danilo found an escape in the wrong kind of company.The teenager spent an increasing amount of time away from home, 'working' as a dru.gs runner for a gang, and started dabbling in dr.ug and alcohol use himself. After a street fight in which he was nearly kil.led, his mother (who was struggling with her own mental health) sent him to live with relatives in Kanto, hoping that would take him away from his bad influences.Unfortunately, Danilo soon fell into the same dangerous behaviours and was sent to prison after being caught with dru.gs. While in prison, he found out that his mother had disappeared from a psychiatric inpatient facility. When Danilo was released 2 years later, he vowed to find his mother, but that required money, and work for an ex-convict was not easy to come by. After completing an apprenticeship in mechanics, he reestablished contact with some prison friends, who introduced him to Team Rocket.Since joining Rocket, Danilo (first code-named Attila, and now Buson) has worked his way up the ranks, mostly in debt collection and interrogations. He is also, occasionally, a field agent who specialises in capturing rare Pokémon, along with his partner Bashou.
